Company profile Main product series |
Seco is firmly rooted in Swedish history. It all started with the founding of Fagersta Bruks AB in Fagersta, Sweden, in 1873. The company, based in the Berslagan region, produces steel wire, pipes, gun barrels and springs for rail cars. In 1932, the company began small-scale production of a cemented carbide product called Seco. Seco means "I cut" in Latin.
Fagersta Bruks AB invested heavily in carbide from the 1950s to the 1960s, acquiring a number of carbide manufacturers and becoming one of the three largest tungsten carbide companies in Europe. Seco was formally established in 1974 when the Seco Cemented carbide division became independent from Fagersta AB. Seco expanded rapidly in the 1980s and 1990s, opening several branches around the world.
